The worst executed idea of 2007

This gets an award for being one of the worst executed idea’s i’ve seen this year..

Build your own milling machine

Milling Machine

Right. I have decided to buy a milling machine. I can then make some complicated TEC water blocks. The only problem this: that I really don't have any money to buy one. Still, I think it'll be cheaper to buy a milling machine than to buy over-priced water blocks. I want to use the milling machine to make a few twin 437watt TECs coolers.

Oh, and if you're from

Multiple TECs

One of the big down-sides to computing is that things keep changing. There is always a new air cooler or water cooler that has just came out offering better cooling performance than the last. Watercooling can even be worse than air cooling with the urge to buy more and more radiators to bring your temps down fractionally. What this all means is that spending $1000 on watercooling today should buy you a cooling system that will provide you with lowest temps possible. However in a year’s time you’ll need to be upgrading everything to provide the best possible temps.

Low TV frame rate in Vista

After plenty of mucking about, I have found out how to resolve the poor frame rate when out-putting TV through a NVIDIA graphics card. It came down to changing the settings in the driver. By default this box is checked; if you uncheck it, you will then be able to view your videos at an expectable frame rate using a half-decent graphics card.

What is the point of a virus checker ?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding of a virus checker it that it detects viruses and tries to remove or quarantine them.

Windows Vista... Set it on fire!!! Burn baby burn

I have been avoiding Vista up till now, because I dont believe there is any need for it... Microsoft just brought it out to make people buy it... Vista makes no sense... can you do anything more on Vista than on XP? No... Vista is just a buggy disaster. There simply isn't any good reason for it to exist except to force us end-users to buy it... like Microsoft needs the money.

Right, on to my current Vista problem...

More stuff that doesn't work; this time: graphics

Mainboard M2NPV-VMI must admit, I've been very side-tracked recently with my server, which has now progressed into a server / media center.

My server, continued...

I have discovered the problem with the powersaving and my HDDs... it would seem that my network was losing connectivity and when it lost connectivity, it destroyed my server.
